Motherhood Is: Ever wanted to know what motherhood is like?

Or whether your experience of motherhood is the same as others? Have you ever wondered if other mothers have had to clean up vomit off the bus or hide their embarrassment, in a public space, because of a wailing, defiant toddler?

Well, in this book, Mavela, a mother of two boys, candidly shares her experience of motherhood. Her experience explores 19 different areas, such as: Relationship and Sex; Feeling and Emotions; Self-care and Love; Bodily Fluids and Sleep and Tiredness, and appears in the form of quotes, e.g.: “Motherhood is: finding baby poo all over the baby’s back, right up to his neck!” This book also shares over 100 motherhood quotes from mothers of varying ages, ethnicities and nationalities.

It is a book that will have you smiling and nodding along in agreement, crying with laughter, empathising, sympathising or simply being appalled. "MOTHERHOOD IS:" will give you a thorough and diverse insight into motherhood.

Keep Walking : In this autobiographical book, Mavela focuses on three key areas:

A, the start of your life (journey); C, a desired goal (destination) and B, an undesired position between A and C, where you may have arrived at unexpectedly.

Significantly, staying at B may offer less stress, fewer challenges and pay the bills. However, it is not the C that you envisioned. Mavela was on route to qualify as a primary school teacher (her C) when in 2010, she received a Third-Class degree from the University of Cambridge. Anything she tried to drive her career forward simply did not work.

She was stuck at B because her Third-class degree prevented her from entry to postgraduate programmes. Determined not to stay at B, she made a decision to ‘keep walking’. She believed in her dream, skills and qualities. Consequently, a few years later, she achieved her goal of qualifying as a primary school teacher. As she shares her journey from A to C, she invites you to reflect on your own journey, and in particular to analyse your B and craft your C.
