About Me
Mavela O. Boahen
Mavela was born and raised on the beautiful Caribbean island of Montserrat.
Following a volcanic eruption in her country in 1995, she relocated to England, with her family, in 1997.
From the age of 8, Mavela spent her time growing up and schooling in London (Hackney), where she excelled academically.
From 2000 - 2005: Haggerston’s Girls school - she attained 3A*s and 7As (including French, History; Art and Design Technology).
From 2005 - 2007: La Sainte Union, where she succeeded with 2 As and 2 Bs (English Literature, Sociology, History and Performing Arts).
From 2007 - 2010: the University of Cambridge, where she studied Social and Political Sciences.
After graduation (2010 - 2014), Mavela found herself on a winding path that led her to engage in various roles, such as: the CEO of Britain’s Successful Black Women; Personal Banking Manager at Lloyds TSB; Mentor and Intern at Off Centre Youth Charity and a teaching assistant at a local primary school.
However, after her unfulfilling detours, Mavela determinedly and passionately pursued a PGCE qualification. From 2014 - 2015, she completed a PGCE from the University of Roehampton, and in 2015 she qualified as a primary school teacher.
After her arduous experience of attaining a PGCE qualification and qualifying as a teacher, in 2016, Mavela self-published an inspirational autobiography to inspire others to “Keep Walking” - despite failure, rejection or difficulty! If she could do it, then she certainly believed that others could!
As a result of her upbringing, ethos, practices and experiences, Mavela leads inspirational talks and life coaching sessions - as means of motivating and supporting others to achieve their full potential! She is passionate about seeing others achieve and strive to achieve goals that seem impossible and out of reach! She fundamentally believes that life is for the taking: “If you are complacent, then you will eat the meal of mediocrity, however, if you are intentional, disciplined and determined, then you will feast with kings and live in palaces!”
As a life coach, Mavela takes the time to listen to your concerns and deepest desires. She asks you questions to help you to understand your reality, but also to realise your full potential. She challenges you to think of necessary changes that you need to make and the actions that you need to take to achieve your goals! After your coaching sessions with Mavela, you will have a clearer idea of your desires and goals and how you will achieve them - including navigating any barriers or obstacles.
As well as being an author, inspirational speaker and life coach, Mavela is a wife and a mother of three. After having her second child, in 2019, Mavela published her second book: “Motherhood is:”. This book depicts Mavela’s real life, day-to-day, motherhood experiences, as a means of enlightening mums-to-be; empathises with new-be mums and having a laugh and connecting with veteran mums! It's a must-have book if you want a real snapshot of the many aspects of motherhood. Both of her books are available on Amazon.
Mavela would love to connect with you to help you to achieve your deepest desires!
